Stefano Dominioni about the Cultural Routes Programme at the Forum "Connecting Cultures-Shaping a Creative Future for Georgia and Europe"

By the support of Georgian Government, and by the initiation of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, implementation of a grand scale project “Georgia, Europe” was launched.

On May 6-7, a two-day forum “Connecting Cultures- Shaping a Creative Future for Georgia and Europe” was held at the Hotel Sheraton Metekhi Palace. The opening speeches were given by the Prime Minister Mr. Mamuka Bakhtadze, the President- Mrs. Salome Zurabishvili, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports- Mr. Mikheil Batiashvili, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia- Mr. Karl Hartzell and the UNESCO Artist for Peace- Eliso Bolkvadze. 

Besides other Georgian and European presenters, the Executive Secretary of the EPA on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and the Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes Mr. Stefano Dominioni spoke to the audience. In his speech, he pointed out the role of Cultural Routes to connect cultural heritage sites in Europe, as well as bringing European people together. He also mentioned the importance of Georgia as part of this programme. Mr. Dominioni congratulated the Georgian audience for the successful completion of the first Cultural Routes National Country Mapping of Georgia. 

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia Mr. Levan Kharatishvili summarized the forum. He thanked the participants of the event for collaboration and expressed hope that the programme would support the intercultural dialogue.
